The TGW Global team is at it again, taking on the Yorkshire Three Peak Challenge. On Saturday, September 14, Lauren, Steve, Kerry, and Gabriella took on the 12-hour challenge to complete the three peaks.
The Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge is 24 miles (38.6 km) consisting of three peaks, Pen-y-ghent, Whernside, and Ingleborough. It’s hiking, climbing, and raising money for charity, all in under 12 hours. A grueling day with a 4 a.m. start, our team was able to complete it in 11 hours and 20 minutes.
After climbing over 1,600 meters, sometimes scaling sheer rock walls, the team was rewarded with incredible views of the sweeping English countryside atop each peak. Nearing the top of the third peak, around mile 20, the team grew weary, but relieved to know the challenge was almost complete. With perfect weather, the team completed:
- 25.2 miles hiking
- 65,000 steps
- 1,615 meters climbing
They are thrilled to have completed the physically demanding event and spent their Sunday recovering, as it was not easy to walk or climb stairs! They can’t wait to take on the challenge once more in 2020 and hope to encourage more of the team to join them.
