According to CSP, sales of snacks like nuts and seeds, crackers, cookies, and granola/snack bars fell precipitously in late 2020. This may be in part due to the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic, which has lots of people stuck at home, and less likely to pick up on-the-go snacks.
One outlier, though, is the meat snack and jerky segment, which grew 5.3% over 2020, and is forecasted to continue to grow. Despite these recent tough times for the snack industry, though, the outlook is bright for the global snack market. Bakery items, for example, grew by 1.4%.
